Monster-A-GoGo's Shock-O-Rama Poster Show RECREATION # 142

February 15, 2017, 01:34:48 AM

Hi everyone else. You've survived Valentine's Day. And now we are half way through the month (well, actually MORE than halfway)---already!  Here are 10 more new additions. Most of these are holdovers from one of Rich's recent auctions (hence the MPB watermark on the photos). Come along for the ride and take a look or don't:

THE MAD EXECUTIONERS:

I've never seen this flick, but there wasn't much competition for it (maybe/probably it's a crappy movie?)  I went for it. Is the movie any good?

THE LIVING END:

"An irresponsible movie by Gregg Araki."  I've not seen this, but this director seems to be kind of a cult favorite. I DID see one of his films, THE DOOM GENERATION, and liked it a lot. Got this one cheap...why not? Turned out to be from my friend Scott's collection before I knew he was dead.

CRY OF THE BANSHEE:

Hooray! Another classic Vincent Price chiller poster. Not as nice as HAUNTED PALACE or HOUSE OF USHER, but...

AXE:

Here is another one I scored from our pal Rich during one of his auctions a few weeks back (Thanks Rich!). Also known as CALIFORNIA AXE MASSACRE (riffing another, more popular movie), this is strictly drive-in, B-movie  fodder. Couldn't pass it up.

LATITUDE ZERO:

I got a Thai version of this a while back. I've still never seen the movie. i do dig the power rays or whatever coming from their fingertips. Zowie! What's that all about? Could be a cheesy groovy movie. Cool poster.

AT THE EARTH'S CORE:

I actually saw this in the theaters as a kid back in the day, and even then it was ultra cheesy...but you couldn't look away. My eyes were glued to the screen. The poster art has always enchanted me too. I already have a copy, but why not another for a rainy day?

RAZORBACK:

I've been curious about this movie for years. I have the DVD---just have never seen it yet. The poster always seems to get snatched out from under me too. Why? I got me a copy---hope to see the film some day. Is it a GIANT pig in it or something? Yowza! This first appeared on my radar because it stars Gregory Harrison, star of TV's LOGAN'S RUN (which, if you'll remember was based off of the film of the same name -- which was the first poster I ever got!)

SECONDS:

I've long been curious about this Rock Hudson flick. I've never seen it, but doesn't aging Rock get somehow turned into a younger guy?  Hmm.

THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD and SPIDERMAN STRIKES BACK (British quad combo):

This was interesting (and inexpensive). I'm not sure what THIEF OF BAGHDAD is...never saw it...but the SPIDERMAN 2nd feature appears to be culled from the short-lived 70s TV series. That should/could be worth something to some fanbot somewhere maybe? I remeber the series--it was flawed and cheesy and no where near as fluid and "believable" as the newer movies are (I only saw the first newer movie--not a big fan of the super hero stuff).

HORROR HOTEL:

Here is my prize for this post. Oooooo how exciting. I've wanted a copy for a long, LONG time. Love the art...creepy fabulous.

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping over. March will be here before you know it...

CHEERS!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #12

Hi there. Yes, I’m back again. Really, I was in a weird, crazed buying frenzy recently. I have enough posters for at least one and a half more posts… But I’ll try to pace myself and hold back a bit. These aren’t that exciting. Actually, neither is the next batch. The batch after that has one or two things I’m especially excited about, but we’ll have to see what trickles in to fill the rest of that post up. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We are on this post. Let’s take a gander at it,  shall we? I hope it won’t be too disappointing. Perhaps there’ll be a poster on here or two that you haven’t seen before. THE QUIET EARTH: While I think I’ve heard of this movie before, and I think I may have seen this poster before, I’m not quite sure. If I have seen this poster before, I don’t think I actually owned it. Like my last post, this has a few posters that were part of several lots. No, I am not posting all of the posters in the lots. Not all of them appealed to me. This one, thou...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #13

Hello. Here we are again. There’s nothing new to see here. Every poster is either VHS-era garbage or something you’ve seen before. There is one outlier that doesn’t seem to belong, but it’s one that I’ve been looking for forever. Even though I wasn’t actively looking for it when I finally got it. Huh? Never mind. Let’s just take a look and see what we have today… CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE (video) :  I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to track down the posters for THE CURSE series . For those who have never seen it or heard of it, THE CURSE series is a mostly direct-to-video series of horror flick that are NOT related to each other at all, except by title. I have the theatrical (I think) one sheet for the original movie. I’m not sure if I have a copy of the part two poster or not, and I may have copies of parts three and four already… Or not. I am not sure. But here is the poster for CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE. Yes, as you can, guess, it was cheap. Did I see the movie...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #11

Welcome back. Now that the James Bond stuff is out of the way (see my last post), I can trudge to some B-movie stuff. A lot of this stuff came from lot purchases. I have a lot of these posters already, and have shared them in previous posts. Not all of the posters from the various lot purchases will be shared. Don’t panic. I’ve just decided to share these as a way to look back at these B-flicks and reflect on them a bit. THE MEPHISTO WALTZ: This was an early movie in the 70s satanic panic cycle, that was started with ROSEMARY’S BABY in the mid 60s. If you haven’t seen it, you’re not really missing much. What I do remember most from the commercials was a dog with a human head. Imagine my annoyance when it just turned out to be a dog with a mask on its head that someone placed on it as a joke. There was no “human headed” dog in the plot. Alan Alda I identify so much with being Hawkeye on M*A*S*H, that it’s hard to see him in this movie. At least for me, this is an instance where it’s har...
