The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #14

And welcome back… With this post, I am hopefully wrapping up all the posters I purchased in my recent mania. ( Actually, as I write this, there are still a few auctions out there. I have bids on that haven’t closed. While I doubt I’ll get anything, there’s always the worry that I will and that those purchases will spill over into another post. Eek!) As per my (sometimes) usual, I’ve got a lot of trash and a few treasures. I also have a very bad headache. So let’s get on with it already… VAN HELSING : This must’ve been a lot purchase. Although it’s based on a character. DRACULA , I had absolutely zero interest in seeing this movie. Zero. TOMB OF THE BLIND DEAD (French) : I have long been a fan of the BLIND DEAD films . To my knowledge, only three of the four were released in the US and have one sheets. The first one, TOMB OF THE BLIND DEAD , was released as just THE BLIND DEAD with a misleading poster image making it seem like a knockoff of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD .   RETUR...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2023 #9

Welcome! Get your tickets and take your seat. The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is about to begin. I am still disabled and only getting worse…yet, uh, um…I’m spending money on my ADDICTION to posters that I really have NO BUSINESS doing. Why? Because I am STUPID. (But I LOVE staring at them…) Waaaaagh! Anyway—-my stupidity is your viewing pleasure (or however you want to term it…).  Here we go… THE LADY IN THE MORGUE (1942 RE-RELEASE) : This isn't something that I'd usually buy. I've never seen this old mystery/whodunit flick. Despite this being a re-release poster (The original, with completely different art, hails from 1938.), I decided to go ahead and buy this 81-year-old gem for several reasons. I like the monster-ish hands reaching in at the couple. I dig the purple/green color scheme. The old school font is awesome...and one of its co-stars is Barbara Pepper, who brilliantly played Mrs. Ziffel (Arnold the pig's "mom") on GREEN ACRES. Ha! The most important r...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2022 #4--Just when you thought...

And...the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is B-A-C-K! It's been about three months since my last post --- which I totally thought was going to be my final post. I have been occupying my time with a new/old hobby. Years ago (mid-80s -early 2000s) I started doing something on my own that I later found out was a thing called "mail art". Earlier this spring, I "rediscovered" it. Although my hands are starting to be affected by my neuro-muscular disease and I am planning on re-retiring from the hobby very soon, I have been making envelopes to send to friends. Who cares, right? Why mention it here? Because, as a movie poster lover/addict all of my life, most of my envelopes are designed to look like mini, horizontal movie posters for fake (mostly horror) movies. "THE HOUSE ON CEMETERY HILL" and "SLUMBER PARTY EXORCISM" are just some of the titles. If I can't BUY the posters I want--I can always make up my own, right? If you want a peek at my envelopes...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2019 #19

Hello and oh my stars! It's another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. How did this happen? I'm not quite sure... Hmm. I really tried to avoid poster shopping and what I have is not that great, but...it IS another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. Amazing but true! Okay, the lights are dimming and the show is starting. Shhh! No talking...and please silence your cell phones. Thank you. MURDER ON CAMPUS: This is an obscure title---at least, I had never heard of it before. I had never seen the poster before either. It was cheap--so I bought it. What a cheap poster design. It looks like, instead of art, they just decided to use lobby cards (which they probably didn't bother to run on their own). Why did I want this then? The little bit on the bottom was what sold me. There's a bad drawing of a woman (Is that long hair or sideburns?) screaming, the cheesy horror lettering of the title, the fake review ("A thriller-chiller!" **** )  that is attributed to no one, and ...
