Monster-A-GoGo's Shock-O-Rama Poster Show RECREATION # 160--LAST ONE!

June 29, 2017, 09:57:36 PM

I am back from my road trip to Oregon for a wedding. It turned out better than I thought, but--UGH!--what an ordeal. But, while I was gone...what did I do? Picked up more crap I don't really need. So...here it is:

BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (Advance teaser):

This was part of a lot I got a while back...just posting it to get it up and out of my hair.

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS:

I got this (and several others on here--look for the watermark) last night from Rich during one of his movieposterbid.com auctions. THANK YOU, Rich.

WARLOCK:

I probably already have this...it was inexpensive and I bid. Sold!

THE CHURCH:

Is this a one sheet or a video poster? I had NO IDEA it played theatrically in the USA if it is a one sheet. Zowie!

THE TOUCH OF SATAN:

I have been after one of these for ages, thinking it was the poster for a horror movie I saw advertised as a kid in San Jose. It's a CRAPPY movie...but the poster can be difficult to obtain. I got this one...but then I realized that (DUH!) this couldn't be the movie I thought was the one I saw a commercial for as this came out in 1974...and I was still living in San Jose when I saw the TV ad...and we moved in late 1971. Hmm.

SUPERMAN III (Review style):

God, SUPERMAN 3 was the WORST of the series---worse than Part 4!  Why would I bother? Simply because I have NEVER seen one of these posters before. I was intrigued. Who paid off TIME to write this kiss ass review? Ha!

GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE:

Disappointing vampire flick starring Grindhouse legend William Smith.

THE BIRDS II:

So, I'll probably never own an original THE BIRDS poster...but here is the poster for the made for Showtime sequel, THE BIRDS II...which was awful and I'm sure many, many people have forgotten it or have no idea this movie ever existed. But I got the poster to prove it, baby! Whoopie...

PRISONER OF PARADISE:

This is a porn flick (hello? Seka? John Holmes?) that I've never seen. Why did I buy it? Well, I am under the impression that this is a porno knock off on the brief Nazisploitation craze of the 70s and early 80s. One of those completist purchases. I can only imagine what this movie must be like... Ha!

THE PROPHECY:

I know I saw this horror flick starring Christopher Walken in the theaters, but I can NOT remember a thing about the movie. And there were like 5 made for video sequels I believe---never saw any of them. This was part of a "lot" (like the first poster)

That's it for now. I'm just glad to be HOME! Thanks for visiting.

Have a groovy 4th!

CHEERS!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024: Special Edition #1

Welcome back to the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. This edition is a bit different. As you may know, with certain exceptions that may come my way, I've by and large stopped buying posters. This post isn't about new posters. Instead it is about my first experiencing linenbacking posters.  If you've read any of my posts before, you will know that I am NO FAN of linenbacked posters. However, as my collecting days were slowing/coming to an end, getting things on linen seemed to be the only way I'd be ever able to enjoy certain posters if I wanted them. I now have several linenbacked posters in my collection. I'm about to have four more... I am still working through a move I made 2 years ago. I am trying to get  my poster collection organized in some sort of manner. I am still going through boxes and tubes, trying to frame them or add them to my flat file drawers (or set them aside for either auction or to donate to thrift stores). During one such effort to (stupidly) pull...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024: Special Edition #2: The Best of 2024

Well, 2024 is coming to a close. It's time once again to go through the year's purchases and touch on the favorites I picked up through the year. This was a light year for purchases for me--and next year I expect will be even more sparse, if there are any at all. But I was able to eek out 10 (actually 11) faves for 2024 and here they are: (Honorable Mention) HOUSE OF THE DEAD: I don't have much this year to warrant an "honorable mention". I would probably have used this poster in the #10 spot...except the one there I had been after for sooooo long (despite the movie turning out to be snore-inducing when I finally saw it). This poster I had never seen before--not am I familair with the movie. it probably sucks, but I liked the artwork on the poster---so that is why I chose to include it--honorable mention or not. 10):   THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS  and  OKEFENOKEE  (combo) : I have been after this poster for decades--long before I ever saw the yawn-inducing film...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024: #7

Welcome back! I certainly NEVER expected to be back with another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show, yet here I am. Sure, maybe a "special edition" (about hanging posters or framing them, etc.) would have popped up--but one with "new" posters? No. I have cancer and have been going through chemo for the last four months. Why buy posters if I wind up dead? I resisted for a long time, but...here I am, binging (and mostly on CRAP!). There are 14 here...instead of my ususual 10. I haven't been keeping track of the (utter trash) I've been buying. So, as best I can figure out, for better or worse (mostly worse), these are my new purchases since May or June. I am pulling this together as I realized it's the end of the year--and a "best of 2024" should happen. O' the fun... NOT! I'm trying to recover from my last chemo treatment even now --and all I want to do is be in bed. THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS: Several pieces I ended up with are in poor shape an...
