Hi there.... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Because it is my favorite holiday, I am going to go ahead and make a last-minute bonus post of new acquisitions (something I do not like to do too often as I really need to be frugal with my new acqs as they are NOT coming in as fast and furiously as before. Certainly the quality isn't what it used to be -- just wait until you see what is coming up--some jewels but a lot of junk too).
Trick or treat...here come the posters.
THE ZOMBIE WALKS (Turkish):
Budget emovie goodness...well, okay-ness... I got this for a mere $7 and let everything else go. I'm telling you, I be poor, No idea what the movie is like. I hope I do not already have this...
SHE WAS A HIPPY VAMPIRE:
I know it is not the best poster ever...but SHE WAS A HIPPY VAMPIRE? What a groovy title! A Thrill-cade of excitement roaring through the streets into Wildville! Cool. This is actually a re-release re-titling of Jerry Warren's snoozefest, THE WILD WORLD OF BATWOMAN (aka a cheap-o black & white rip-off of TVs BATMAN) cleverly disguised for that era's hip(py)sters, who I'm sure were appalled to find they'd stumbled into a dated, crappy, totally unhip(py) flick. I'm sure they hated it...unless they were on some illegal mind-altering substances perhaps. But I couldn't pass it up, of course. It's a trip.
THE WITCH:
I thought this movie was a total MISSED opportunity. The sets/costumes/setting were all wonderful. The acting was fine. The actual plot was what was lacking. BORING. I had such high hopes too. Oh well. As much as I didn't like the movie, the poster (this one) has struck my fancy since i first saw it. It goes crazy high for some reason...so when I saw it crazy cheap I couldn't say no.
THE CONJURING 2:
Did I need this? No. Will I ever hang it? Not. Was it cheap or something. Yep. It came with THE WITCH poster. Both for $9.99. Sale!
BLACK DEVIL DOLL:
I had been watching this poster off and on for months. It never sold. The seller eventually lowered the price. I sent him a note saying if he lowered it just $2 more, I'd buy it. He did and I did. Ha. What an amazing poster---soooo NOT P.C. on purpose. A total throwback to the blaxploitation days of the early 70s. Yowza! The movie is probably crap (Yes, it really does exist. I have it...just have not watched it yet. Same art on the DVD cover as shown here, And apparently there is a 6 episodes web series starring Black Devil Doll coming soon called "There Goes Da Neighba'hood" I'm not kidding.)
KING DINOSAUR (Thai):
I don't know if this is the very old and creaky KING DINOSAUR or something else. But judging by the giant ape on the front, this is circa 1976 when the first KING KONG remake came out. The ape looks very similar to the 70's KONG. Whatever this poster is for---fun graphics.
MAGDALENA - POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL (Gerrman):
Also known as BEYOND THE DARKNESS, this Euro-EXORCIST copy is hard to find any paper on. I dug the image on this German poster, with the devil's face made up of various nude female bodies, so I snagged it. The movie is only so-so with more nudity and Euro sleaze than THE EXORCIST--but not nearly as good either.
MY WORLD DIES SCREAMING:
Also known as (and better known as) TERROR IN A HAUNTED HOUSE, this is the first of only two movies using the subliminal gimmick PSYCHO-RAMA (the other being A DATE WITH DEATH). The gimmick utilized images quickly flashed on the screen--faster than the conscious mind can see--but not the subconscious. Lame poster, but important (to me) for the gimmick.
BLUEBEARD'S 10 HONEYMOONS:
I had never heard of this movie until I came across a kind of ratty copy of the poster (or maybe the half sheet?) and bought it. Since then, I've been searching for a decent copy. This is finally it. Still have not seen the movie though...
SOCIETY:
I know I posted one of these back in August. This 2nd copy is just an upgrade. But did I really need it? Hmm.
THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE:
Yes, I am uber-broke. This is my first splurge since moving into my house at the beginning of September. Yikes--I hadn't even gotten my first electric bill yet (which I knew would probably be high...and it WAS!)--but I went ahead and splurged on this. OUCH. I'm gonna be more financially hurt than ever---but I couldn't let this cool and stunning poster go. WOW!
I hope your Halloween is a dream...er, NIGHTMARE come true.
That's all for now.
BOO!
PS
The last of my stuff got moved from the shack-0-rama today, including my long-buried NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET pinball machine. While it's not ready for play yet, it was great to see it after years buried away.
Just in time for Halloween!
BOO!
