The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024: #7

Welcome back! I certainly NEVER expected to be back with another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show, yet here I am. Sure, maybe a "special edition" (about hanging posters or framing them, etc.) would have popped up--but one with "new" posters? No. I have cancer and have been going through chemo for the last four months. Why buy posters if I wind up dead? I resisted for a long time, but...here I am, binging (and mostly on CRAP!). There are 14 here...instead of my ususual 10. I haven't been keeping track of the (utter trash) I've been buying. So, as best I can figure out, for better or worse (mostly worse), these are my new purchases since May or June. I am pulling this together as I realized it's the end of the year--and a "best of 2024" should happen. O' the fun... NOT! I'm trying to recover from my last chemo treatment even now --and all I want to do is be in bed.

THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS:
Several pieces I ended up with are in poor shape and I kick myself for buying them. This BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS, for instance, is more rough than I would normally buy… Grr. I hadn’t even really looked at it. Damn it.

DEVIL'S DUE:
Another "what was I thinking purchase….!?!"   The robed woman with the impaled man on the pitchfork was interesting, but is it in the movie? Is this anything of note? Satan sex? Diabolical porn? (It’s x-rated.) It’s probably just crap.

THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORK:
Crap! I was initially thrilled with this, bidding almost as blindly as I had on BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS. When I first won it, I was thrilled. I have one on linen, but wanted one that was just paper…and then I saw the Canadian censor stamp. Damn it!!!

WEREWOLVES:
This was another cheap pick up. I never saw this. It never played near me. Any good? Guessing not….

FRIDAY THE 13TH LATE SHOW:
Here’s a generic drive in scream show poster for a double feature that is not announced. It LOOKS like it could be a Christopher Lee DRACULA flick. The hand in the corner LOOKS like it includes WEREWOLF IN A GIRLS’ DORMITORY as well… Or it could be anything at all! Whatever cut-rate double feature they come up with. It’s a boring poster and I paid too much for it…. (Sorry… I had to use eMovie’s image. I didn’t download my clean copy in time apparently…)

COMMON LAW WIFE:
I dig the trashy, although I’ll never hang this poster. I have seen the flick. It’s no Doris Wishman, but it’s okay… for what it is.

LOUISIANA HUSSY:
This is not a photo of the copy I got…just an example. I got a copy years ago. Just like this example, it had a frigging Canadian censor stamp on it. I spent way too much for a copy withOUT the stamp. Damn it. What was I thinking? I’ll never display it.

SAFARI DRUMS:

By and large, as I said, I've stopped buying posters, especially since I am battling cancer and don't know my fate. However, some posters I "need" I'll still try to buy--if it's not too expensive. If you've read my blog, you'll know I've been dabbling with the Bomba series. I'll never display this (or any of them)...but it was cheap and NO ONE else bid  on it. Sold!

DAWN OF THE DEAD 3-D (re-release):
Ooooo I wanted to see this so badly, but never got the chance to. I was thrilled to get a copy of an actual printed poster for this 3D re-release. (The only posters I had seen for it had been digital.)

BEYOND THE DARKNESS:
This was an exciting pick up for me….although it’s a boring poster. BEYOND YHE DARKNESS is a little-known German EXORCIST ripoff. Better known as MAGDALENA, this movie tried to push an exorcism movie into the realm of porn, as I recall. Posters for it seem to be scarce.

SATAN'S SATELLITES:
Something else I already had and didn’t need… but what a cool poster!

THE SHE BEAST / THE EMBALMER:
Here’s another copy of a poster I already had. Oh well. It, too, is cool.

THE MAN WITH NINE LIVES (re-release) (linen):

Yes, it’s a re-release. Yes, it’s on linen ( blah!)  But, it’s almost 80 years (1947 release) old and stars Boris Karloff. How could I say no?

WHITE CHRISTMAS (re-release) (linen):

Yes, another re-release on linen. I’ll never have an original and the re-release does feature a nice layout. It didn’t go for that much either, which surprised me. It will be nice to have up during the holidays…next year. (If I survive…). And it truly is a classic film. (Vera-Ellen, who lip syncs her songs, is just amazing to watch in action. Zowie! Can she move!)

And that is it, boys and girls. Thanks for visiting. I probably won’t be back, but you never know….

Cheers!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #12

Hi there. Yes, I’m back again. Really, I was in a weird, crazed buying frenzy recently. I have enough posters for at least one and a half more posts… But I’ll try to pace myself and hold back a bit. These aren’t that exciting. Actually, neither is the next batch. The batch after that has one or two things I’m especially excited about, but we’ll have to see what trickles in to fill the rest of that post up. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We are on this post. Let’s take a gander at it,  shall we? I hope it won’t be too disappointing. Perhaps there’ll be a poster on here or two that you haven’t seen before. THE QUIET EARTH: While I think I’ve heard of this movie before, and I think I may have seen this poster before, I’m not quite sure. If I have seen this poster before, I don’t think I actually owned it. Like my last post, this has a few posters that were part of several lots. No, I am not posting all of the posters in the lots. Not all of them appealed to me. This one, thou...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #13

Hello. Here we are again. There’s nothing new to see here. Every poster is either VHS-era garbage or something you’ve seen before. There is one outlier that doesn’t seem to belong, but it’s one that I’ve been looking for forever. Even though I wasn’t actively looking for it when I finally got it. Huh? Never mind. Let’s just take a look and see what we have today… CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE (video) :  I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to track down the posters for THE CURSE series . For those who have never seen it or heard of it, THE CURSE series is a mostly direct-to-video series of horror flick that are NOT related to each other at all, except by title. I have the theatrical (I think) one sheet for the original movie. I’m not sure if I have a copy of the part two poster or not, and I may have copies of parts three and four already… Or not. I am not sure. But here is the poster for CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE. Yes, as you can, guess, it was cheap. Did I see the movie...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #11

Welcome back. Now that the James Bond stuff is out of the way (see my last post), I can trudge to some B-movie stuff. A lot of this stuff came from lot purchases. I have a lot of these posters already, and have shared them in previous posts. Not all of the posters from the various lot purchases will be shared. Don’t panic. I’ve just decided to share these as a way to look back at these B-flicks and reflect on them a bit. THE MEPHISTO WALTZ: This was an early movie in the 70s satanic panic cycle, that was started with ROSEMARY’S BABY in the mid 60s. If you haven’t seen it, you’re not really missing much. What I do remember most from the commercials was a dog with a human head. Imagine my annoyance when it just turned out to be a dog with a mask on its head that someone placed on it as a joke. There was no “human headed” dog in the plot. Alan Alda I identify so much with being Hawkeye on M*A*S*H, that it’s hard to see him in this movie. At least for me, this is an instance where it’s har...
