Monster-A-GoGo's Shock-O-Rama Poster Show RECREATION # 48

For this re-creation, you'll need to know that an APF member named "Crazy Vick" told me about a poster shop on Maui just before I visited. I was trying to watch my spending---but he was playing devil's advocate and betting I would spend--a LOT! Ha!

October 16, 2015, 03:37:22 AM

Hey Crazy Vick, you'll be happy to know I came, I saw, I LEFT withOUT buying a thing. It was a nice little store with some beautiful things (ZOWIE!!). However, they were all well out of my price range and all were linen backed (NOT my thing at all). See below (sorry the pictures are not that great and one is blurry...)

CHEERS!

My last posting was not that exciting. This one has some duds in it too, but also has a super coup (well, for ME it is) that I am very excited about. But my spending spree has pretty much wound down. I have ONE more post after this and then I'm out for a while again.  But let's see what I have now:

INFERNO (Turkish):
I've been wanting a poster for Argento's "INFERNO" for a long, long time. I was holding out for a US one sheet, but there never seemed to be any available (of course, I've since found out that even though it was planned to have a US release, it NEVER did. Ha!). This is the Turkish release--and they've taken the basic Italian art and added a few things. I probably should have just went with the Italian (If I could find one), but this is what was available when I was looking.

DAMIEN: OMEN II (Turkish):
The US version is sooo blah. This is much more interesting. I still want to get the Turkish poster for the first "OMEN" flick. I haven't seen the posters for 3 & 4...

DUEL (Spanish):
I was also hoping for a US one sheet of this flick. I know it was a TV movie, but I do also know it later had a theatrical release. I got the Spanish version. Whoohoo.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (Spanish):
I already have the US (80s re-release) version, but stumbled upon this Spanish one that was not too expensive. Why not?

BATMAN (Spanish):
The 60s BATMAN has been on my mind a lot lately (probably because I am re-watching the series again on DVD--Ha!) I really want the US one sheet, but have yet to get one. Saw this 1979 Spanish re-release and thought what the heck?

BATMAN (Begian):
Then I saw this gorgeously colored Belgian version. Ooooo. Sold!  This is not the actual poster I got. The photo of it was funky, so I borrowed this photo from the internet in its place. Pow! Bam! Zowie!

LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT:
This is the dud o' the day. I have no idea why I felt compelled to by this. Snore...

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY:
I know I have all of the Bond posters (with the exception of the new SPECTRE). However, my copies of this one and one other have flaws that I can NOT live with so I need to replace them. I have probably already replaced them...but I'm not sure. Hmm. I have this one now--and it's posted here--so I can refer back and see it and not bid on any others in the future. That leaves just one more to track down (if I haven't done so already) AND the Spectre poster...

THE STRANGER WORE A GUN:  Another vintage 3D poster from the 50s! Yippie! Kind of lackluster--and I'm not big on westerns, but whatever.

PSYCHO (re-release):
Okay--so it's a re-release. But it's in great shape and I'll never get an original. I fought hard to get this one too. Yikes!  Spent more than I meant to, but wanted/needed it. Now I just need to sell my house so I can pay for it. Ha!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024 #5

And I'm back... This, I think, will be my final post of new posters. I had a few leftover posters from last time...and got others to fill out this post and get this done. I can't afford anything anymore and really, with my diminishing health, I should STOP collecting.  TANYA'S ISLAND: This was a cheap grab. I've never seen the movie, but have long wanted this poster. It's so doofy looking. This movie has been on my radar since its release--and it is amazingly hard to find. (As I said, I have NOT seen it yet.) From what I understand, it's basically KING KONG, but with a normal-sized ape (aka man in a bad moneky suit--based on the pictures I've seen) and a bit naughtier. (Hence the R-rating.) D.D. Winters is better known as Vanity, Prince's protegee back in the 80s. She apparently spends a good deal of the time naked. It's supposed to be bad. (No surprise.) I'd still like to see it. HOT DOG: THE MOVIE: I don't know why I bought this. I'm...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2024 #4

Hello. Welcome back. Today's offerings are...rather unexciting for the most part. As I've said many times before, my poster-buying power has been greatly diminished. I fear my post-buying days are wrapping up, too. The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show may be finally coming to a close in the near future. For now though, here's the latest of what I have to share with you today: KING FRAT: This was a fairly cheap poster--but supposedly rather rare? But really, it's not much to look at. I bought it because... I remember when this obscurity came out. Although I never saw it, it appeared to be some low-rent ANIMAL HOUSE wannabe. I was always curious... I bought it on disk (with THE CHEERING SECTION) on a clearance sale for old CODE RED products. (I guess that company went out of business?) I haven't watched it yet as I read the disk was taken directly from two very badly worn VHS sources. Oh well. I'll get to it someday. Maybe. The poster will go in a drawer. Whoopie... STA...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2021 #11

Hi! Welcome to the 11th--and possibly LAST--- Shock-O-Rama Poster Show of the year --at least for several months. I'm busy packing for a move and up to my armpits in posters. (Details below.) UGH! I mean, I may buy more...but I don't have the time, money, and I want to be done with poster packing. Speaking of which, you may notice there is more than my usual 10 posters. Instead of holding back posters for some future posting (which may not be for months--if ever. My health issues keep rearing their ugly heads.), I'm posting everything I've gotten since last time. Take a peek or don't. I'm not feeling so well, which explains my rush to get this posted and the use of some online photos to illustrate today's posting. I'm going to go lay down. (Don't mind me...) Go ahead and take in the show: SHARKWATER EXTINCTION: I love the JAWS flicks, the rip-offs, and bad shark movies in general. This looks like it's probably a documentary--not a bad shark mov...
