Monster-A-GoGo's Shock-O-Rama Poster Show RECREATION # 59

November 12, 2015, 07:31:13 PM

Hi there. Gather around boils and ghouls, it's time once again for the Shock-A-Rama Poster Show. Does everyone have their Freak-O-Vision glasses on? Groovy! Now let's get this poster party started. (Fingers crossed everything works this time.)::

COLOSSUS: THE FORBIDDEN PROJECT (German):  I've never seen this movie. I bought the poster strictly based on the poster. It was colorful and I thought it really popped.

THE GHOST (Belgian): Although I have a one sheet for this (scroll way, way back), I thought this was a fun and colorful addition. Now, by the light of day, it's not that exciting. Oh well.

CANNIBAL MAN: I just watched this over Halloween weekend. It's not really a cannibal movie, but an interesting study into one man's decent into his own personal hell. I decided I liked the movie well enough to get the poster. I couldn't find one. There are Spanish ones out there with the original title (Week of the Murderer--or something like that). I spied a poster in English with yet another alternate title (Something like The Apartment on the 13th Floor)--but it's really dull and really expensive. Emovie just had one--a Belgian with gruesome artwork of a guy with a meat cleaver in his face and the title "Cannibal man" below it--but it went crazy high and I dropped out. Then this little gem fell into my lap. It has the artwork from the original Spanish release and the title I desired. Sold!

JAWS 3D (Japanese chirashi):  I got one of these Japanese mini-posters for JAWS 3D not long ago. But when I came across this one, I realized it was completely different than the one I had already purchased. So i got this one as well.

DEEP ADVENTURE: I had never heard of this film when I stumbled on the poster. Although it's kind of dark (is that the poster or the photo?), I was digging on the shark and all of the underwater activity. Why not?

LADY IN CEMENT:  Eh.. I've seen this around a few times, but finally decided to pick one up. I've heard the movie is not that good, but you've got Frank Sinatra and Raquel Welch (and Hoss from "Bonanza"? Ha!). Go for it.

INVASION OF THE ASTRO MONSTER (Thai): I've also seen this around as well, but only picked it up when i found one cheap enough. Is INVASION OF THE ASTRO MONSTER the same thing as GODZILLA VS MONSTER ZERO? Always happy to get a new Thai poster. This one is fun.

OMEN 4: THE AWAKENING:  I know. I know. This 4th film in the OMEN series is just crap. Fortunately for us in the US, it was a TV movie--so we didn't have to shell out a dime to see it. The rest of the world was not that lucky and they had to see it in theaters. I decided to pick this standard one sheet size poster up so i could have one sheets for each of the films,,,even though the poster leaves a lot to be desired as well.

ZOMBIE LAKE (Belgian): This is actually the very first time I've encountered any poster art work for the admittedly awful "ZOMBIE LAKE". But i dig my zombie flicks, so why not? EEEK!

FANTASM: This poster is one of those cases where you are bidding on something else you really want--and to pad out the shipping costs, you bid on a few other things as well. Of course I LOST out on the thing I really wanted--but still ended up with this. I've been intrigued by this title for a long while. At first I thought it was a softcore version of the horror movie "PHANTASM". But "PHANTASM" was 1979, and this hails from 1976. Hmm. I think this is an Australian movie (?) with American porn stars (?) but completely softcore. The poster is, I think, Australian too--size is a little smaller than a one sheet--but bigger than a daybill. This poster would never see the light of day in a regular theater in 1976 over here. Yowza.

And that is all for today. My bad luck from last night continues on into today. (I need to go and buy a plunger. Need I say more?)

Have a better day than me.

CHEERS!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #12

Hi there. Yes, I’m back again. Really, I was in a weird, crazed buying frenzy recently. I have enough posters for at least one and a half more posts… But I’ll try to pace myself and hold back a bit. These aren’t that exciting. Actually, neither is the next batch. The batch after that has one or two things I’m especially excited about, but we’ll have to see what trickles in to fill the rest of that post up. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We are on this post. Let’s take a gander at it,  shall we? I hope it won’t be too disappointing. Perhaps there’ll be a poster on here or two that you haven’t seen before. THE QUIET EARTH: While I think I’ve heard of this movie before, and I think I may have seen this poster before, I’m not quite sure. If I have seen this poster before, I don’t think I actually owned it. Like my last post, this has a few posters that were part of several lots. No, I am not posting all of the posters in the lots. Not all of them appealed to me. This one, thou...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #13

Hello. Here we are again. There’s nothing new to see here. Every poster is either VHS-era garbage or something you’ve seen before. There is one outlier that doesn’t seem to belong, but it’s one that I’ve been looking for forever. Even though I wasn’t actively looking for it when I finally got it. Huh? Never mind. Let’s just take a look and see what we have today… CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE (video) :  I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to track down the posters for THE CURSE series . For those who have never seen it or heard of it, THE CURSE series is a mostly direct-to-video series of horror flick that are NOT related to each other at all, except by title. I have the theatrical (I think) one sheet for the original movie. I’m not sure if I have a copy of the part two poster or not, and I may have copies of parts three and four already… Or not. I am not sure. But here is the poster for CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE. Yes, as you can, guess, it was cheap. Did I see the movie...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #11

Welcome back. Now that the James Bond stuff is out of the way (see my last post), I can trudge to some B-movie stuff. A lot of this stuff came from lot purchases. I have a lot of these posters already, and have shared them in previous posts. Not all of the posters from the various lot purchases will be shared. Don’t panic. I’ve just decided to share these as a way to look back at these B-flicks and reflect on them a bit. THE MEPHISTO WALTZ: This was an early movie in the 70s satanic panic cycle, that was started with ROSEMARY’S BABY in the mid 60s. If you haven’t seen it, you’re not really missing much. What I do remember most from the commercials was a dog with a human head. Imagine my annoyance when it just turned out to be a dog with a mask on its head that someone placed on it as a joke. There was no “human headed” dog in the plot. Alan Alda I identify so much with being Hawkeye on M*A*S*H, that it’s hard to see him in this movie. At least for me, this is an instance where it’s har...
