The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #23

Welcome back. I know my last few Shock-O-Rama Poster Shows have been… less than interesting. But this one promises to be… more of the same, unfortunately. Run away now. Save yourself. Uh-oh… The lights are dimming and the show is about to begin. Get out now while the getting is good. Once the doors closed, and the lights are fully out, no one will be permitted to leave the auditorium. This is your final warning… Leave now!

THE FOG (remake):

I saw this and remember it being a pretty crappy movie. I’m glad I have a copy of the original poster. This was a freebie. Eh…

RIVER OF DEATH:
I have no idea why I bought this. RIVER OF DEATH? It looks like some  Rambo-esque action flick. Michael Dudikoff? Ha ha ha ha. He certainly fell off the map. The rest of the cast is pretty well known… But the movie itself and the  poster? So not my thing. I don’t know what possessed me to buy it. It is a Cannon Film though. They got kind of crazy with their output and their movies were generally kind of wild. Not necessarily good but wild. I wonder if this is any good in a campy sort of way.

I i’m not a Star Wars guy. I picked these up, stupidly, as an investment. There are four mini posters in this set. I only have a set of three. Oh well. They’re just mini posters. I was a sucker to have to buy these, since I’m fairly certain they were given away in the lobbies.

HELLRAISER-DEADER (video):
This was a straight-to-video movie as the majority of the Hellraiser series are. I bought this just based on the popularity of the series. I already have a copy. Just an investment. It will live in a drawer for a while. Pinhead and the Hellraiser franchise will hopefully stay popular for a long time to come.

I had never heard of this movie before until I came across the poster. It looks like some regional piece of crap. Why buy it? Well, it is something that is rather obscure and it apparently is a holiday movie as well as a kiddy movie. Although it does not mention that it is a kiddie matinee anywhere, it has that feel of those kiddy matinee posters. And if you’ve followed my collection, you know I have a little soft spot for those posters. And also for an apparently, low-budget, regional film, it has some surprisingly well-known people in it. It stars Ron Masak, but also features Rose Marie, Richard Deacon, Paul Winchell, and is introducing Spencer Mulligan, who went onto fame as the father on LAND OF THE LOST. Ha! I think I’d like to see this film, but I’m sure it’d be a piece of crap. Fascinating.

This is another film I’ve never seen… Or heard of. A horror movie? Super cheap for the poster? OK. Sold.

BONE LAKE:
I saw this flick not long ago when it came out… in September, maybe? It was just OK, despite the hype around it. However, the poster intrigued me. Mostly all red, I really thought the red skulls in the lake were interesting. Not the greatest poster ever, but for 2025… A year with not the most intriguing artwork on posters… Especially horror posters… I thought it was OK.

THE HIDDEN:
I remember when this film came out it was very popular. I don’t know why it seems to have vanished into the ether. I keep buying copies of this poster… I think I have three of them now? Four?… because I think it’s an underrated gem that maybe it will be rediscovered someday. I mean, it has Kyle MacLachlan in it… Agent Cooper himself. Oh well. It can rest in my flat file drawers and moulder away…

CARDIAC ARREST:
I don’t know if I have this poster or not. It came up recently somewhere and I didn’t grab it. A few days later, there it was again… And I did snag it. The image on the poster is very similar to the image on the poster for a movie called SCALPEL. SCALPEL’s image is black-and-white. This one is full color. It’s kind of fun. I just hope I don’t already have it. If I do, oh well. This was super cheap.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (lenticular, rerelease):
I got one of these, not too long ago, but when placed under the light, there was a huge scratch. I tried to return it, but the person I bought it from told me just to keep it because returning it would be too much of a hassle and too costly. This one showed up… And I went for it. I already have the original release lenticular. I like the re-release lenticular so now I have both. I don’t know if this will ever get displayed as I only have four light boxes and they are occupied. I have many lenticular that may never get displayed. But you never know. A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a great flick and well deserving of being displayed either the original release or the rerelease lenticular.

And that’s my 10 for this time. Whoopie doo. Thank you for visiting though. I’ll be back soon with more crap…er, fascinating poster purchases. (Yeah, right.)

Cheers!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #12

Hi there. Yes, I’m back again. Really, I was in a weird, crazed buying frenzy recently. I have enough posters for at least one and a half more posts… But I’ll try to pace myself and hold back a bit. These aren’t that exciting. Actually, neither is the next batch. The batch after that has one or two things I’m especially excited about, but we’ll have to see what trickles in to fill the rest of that post up. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We are on this post. Let’s take a gander at it,  shall we? I hope it won’t be too disappointing. Perhaps there’ll be a poster on here or two that you haven’t seen before. THE QUIET EARTH: While I think I’ve heard of this movie before, and I think I may have seen this poster before, I’m not quite sure. If I have seen this poster before, I don’t think I actually owned it. Like my last post, this has a few posters that were part of several lots. No, I am not posting all of the posters in the lots. Not all of them appealed to me. This one, thou...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #13

Hello. Here we are again. There’s nothing new to see here. Every poster is either VHS-era garbage or something you’ve seen before. There is one outlier that doesn’t seem to belong, but it’s one that I’ve been looking for forever. Even though I wasn’t actively looking for it when I finally got it. Huh? Never mind. Let’s just take a look and see what we have today… CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE (video) :  I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to track down the posters for THE CURSE series . For those who have never seen it or heard of it, THE CURSE series is a mostly direct-to-video series of horror flick that are NOT related to each other at all, except by title. I have the theatrical (I think) one sheet for the original movie. I’m not sure if I have a copy of the part two poster or not, and I may have copies of parts three and four already… Or not. I am not sure. But here is the poster for CURSE III: BLOOD SACRIFICE. Yes, as you can, guess, it was cheap. Did I see the movie...

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2025 #11

Welcome back. Now that the James Bond stuff is out of the way (see my last post), I can trudge to some B-movie stuff. A lot of this stuff came from lot purchases. I have a lot of these posters already, and have shared them in previous posts. Not all of the posters from the various lot purchases will be shared. Don’t panic. I’ve just decided to share these as a way to look back at these B-flicks and reflect on them a bit. THE MEPHISTO WALTZ: This was an early movie in the 70s satanic panic cycle, that was started with ROSEMARY’S BABY in the mid 60s. If you haven’t seen it, you’re not really missing much. What I do remember most from the commercials was a dog with a human head. Imagine my annoyance when it just turned out to be a dog with a mask on its head that someone placed on it as a joke. There was no “human headed” dog in the plot. Alan Alda I identify so much with being Hawkeye on M*A*S*H, that it’s hard to see him in this movie. At least for me, this is an instance where it’s har...
