Monster-A-GoGo's Shock-O-Rama Poster Show RECREATION # 76

December 22, 2015, 01:26:21 PM

Hi there. This is it...the last FULL post of 10 posters. I have enough after this for one last partial post (unless I pick up a few more between now and whenever I post the last post for the year---before I cut back to monthly updates.only.  EEK!

Let's see. What do I have this time:

THE VENGEANCE OF DR MABUSE (Spanish):

I really dig the art on this. it's really the only reason i bought it. It turns out that it's a Jano poster. Also note that it was produced by our own Rosa's film company. (Hee hee). I know virtually nothing about this flick, other than it's another early Jess Franco and that it utilizes the Dr, Mabuse character that had been around for a while before this flick.

THE HOUSE THE SCREAMED (Italian):

Another poster i had no idea what it was, but I picked it up for the art. Nice work. The film itself has a nice atmosphere, but the scares are not there by today's standards. But the ending was totally ripped off by a popular grindhouse flick years later.

SHOCK aka BEYOND THE DOOR 2 (Italian):

Mario Bava's last flick. It's interesting, but not necessarily his best work. I have the BEYOND THE DOOR 2 one sheet, but I really wish they'd made a poster of the ad slick instead of what they ended up using for the one sheet. This original Italian poster has a nice creepy yet mysterious dread to it I dig it...

GAPPA (Italian):

GIANT MONSTER FLICK!!!  Need I say more? Ha! Pretty groovy poster too..  This cost me $11. Bargains-a-go-go always welcome at Christmas time!!! Thank you Santa!

FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN:

I've never really seen the Hammer FRANKENSTEIN series. I have seen the DRACULA films and some other stuff---but not the FRANKENSTEINS. I saw this and bid...and left it to chance. I won surprisingly.,

OLGA'S HOUSE OF SHAME:

My stars. The OLGA series has been a big part of my poster year. There's the whole ordeal of the THREE copies of the first poster in the series, WHITE SLAVES OF CHINATOWN. I also picked up poster #4 in the series, MME. OLGA'S MASSAGE PARLOR. I already had a copy of this, my favorite title and poster in the series, OLGA'S HOUSE OF SHAME, but my copy had a corner all but torn off. I needed a new copy. The one shown is not the new one, but my new copy is in fab-o-rama shape...NM!  Whoo hoo!  Now I just need OLGA'S GIRLS (and maybe--but I might already have it--OLGA'S DANCE HALL GIRLS...which is the last film of the series, but also my favorite.).

HERCULES:

Believe it or not, this was a bucket list title---the 1959 Steve reeves HERCULES poster, the movie that started the whole crazy peplum genre. The films have all but been forgotten today---and the video copies available are pretty awful, but some of the better films of the genre are a real treat to watch (others are real snore-inducers).  Finally though--the first HERCULES one sheet!  Yahoo.,

ZOMBIES OF MORA TAU:

I have never seen this flick and know nothing about it, but have seen this 50s (?) poster swim into my sphere of vision a few times---and have been curious. Early zombie movies are always interesting (but not always good). Love the vintage look of the poster (well, it IS vintage. Ha!) How groovy ghoulie wonderful!

NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST:

EEEK!  Here's is another wild and fab drive-in horror flick poster. No, I have not seen this either (for such a movie addict, how do I NOT see so many movies?), but I'd have been to the theater opening week for sure with this blood-drenched poster luring me in!  Yowza!!!

EATEN ALIVE (British quad):

Wow!  Look at this cool quad. I love the shocking art work and the way they convey the action seemingly coming off of the screen. Unfortunately the artwork is rather tame--relying on the title to supply the real horror...but it's still nifty. This is not my actual poster--but a great example to share.  Not the best cannibal movie ever made--but a mighty tasty quad to be sure. Yum!

And that's today's post. As it stands, as I write this, I only have 6 more posters left to share.  (Of course, there's an auction tonight, and Thursday,,,and Sunday there are several! Ha!) Let's see what happens.

Merry Christmas! I hope Santa is good to you and you get that FRANKENSTEIN 6-sheet poster you've been dreaming about. Ha!

(Speaking of Christmas, I've got to go and be one of those crazy people who are doing things at the last minute... UGH!)

CHEERS!

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2023: #10

Welcome back! I certainly did NOT expect to have any further posts with new purchases this 2023 calendar year, but here we are. Granted, most of these are holdover purchases from my temporary poster-buying insanity in October. I’d expected those to be the foundation for whatever post I kicked off the new year with. But now? I had a few more pick ups… Why hold back? Let’s send 2023 out with a real BANG! Christmas came a little early this year. Uh oh… The lights are dimming. Take your seats. Let’s see what I have for you this time… GIRL IN GOLD BOOTS:  Not a great poster, but one I’ve been after for a while. This flick is an exploitationer from legendary B man Ted V. Mikels (CORPSE GRINDERS, ASTRO-ZOMBIES, BLOOD ORGY OF THE SHE-DEVILS, etc.). I saw it years ago. I don’t remember much other than that there is a girl (who wears gold go-go boots) who is a dancer (and maybe sings?) and is somehow involved in the criminal underworld. Like a lot of Mikels’ films…it doesn’t leave an indelible m

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2023 #9

Welcome! Get your tickets and take your seat. The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show is about to begin. I am still disabled and only getting worse…yet, uh, um…I’m spending money on my ADDICTION to posters that I really have NO BUSINESS doing. Why? Because I am STUPID. (But I LOVE staring at them…) Waaaaagh! Anyway—-my stupidity is your viewing pleasure (or however you want to term it…).  Here we go… THE LADY IN THE MORGUE (1942 RE-RELEASE) : This isn't something that I'd usually buy. I've never seen this old mystery/whodunit flick. Despite this being a re-release poster (The original, with completely different art, hails from 1938.), I decided to go ahead and buy this 81-year-old gem for several reasons. I like the monster-ish hands reaching in at the couple. I dig the purple/green color scheme. The old school font is awesome...and one of its co-stars is Barbara Pepper, who brilliantly played Mrs. Ziffel (Arnold the pig's "mom") on GREEN ACRES. Ha! The most important r

The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show 2023 #8

And, what!?! We're B-A-C-K!!! That was...quick. (It just seems that way as I delayed the previous post until I finished my write up on my Something Weird Video adrventure, which I had linked to the page. I've already been working on this one for several weeks.) Truth be told, though, about half of these became mine in a 12 hour period. It is no secret that I am now disabled. I live on a VERY modest income with very little in the bank to fall back on. There is a saying, "You can't take it with you." There should also be a saying that says "You can't enjoy it if you don't have it." That seemed to have been my mindset during a recent eMovieposter auction. Despite the fact that everything was on linen--there were so many titles I wanted. Things were fairly cheap...until the very end. But... Geez! Dipping into my meager savings was... EXTREMELY STUPID and FOOLISH.  But, it happened. Let's take a look: PRO BALL CHEERLEADERS: What the hell is this
